The following position is available for qualified individuals: Town Planner – Town of Middletown

Salary Range: $68,848 - $127,836 per year, plus benefits

Description of Position: This is a technical and professional position created to assist the town of Middletown with municipal planning and zoning, and community development needs. This position will work directly with locally elected and appointed Town Officials. The Staff Planner reports directly to the Town Administrator. Town Officials and the Planning Commission Chairman will provide direction and priorities for the incumbent.

Among the general duties of this position are to: review and provide comments and recommendations on annexation petitions, public works agreements, and subdivision and site plans; review and recommend necessary changes to town zoning ordinances and subdivision regulations; recommend and prepare updates to the town land-use plans and comprehensive plans; prepare the agenda for town planning commission meetings; route all planning related documents and plans to the appropriate staff and agencies; provide Forest Resource Conservation review and enforcement; and liaise with the Frederick County Planning & Zoning Department and the County Planning Commission. The Staff Planner is expected to attend monthly evening meetings of each of the Town Board, Planning Commission Meetings, and periodically the Board of Appeals.
